Oil – 1-2 tbsp Semolina (sooji) – 1 cup(180 grams approx) Black mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp Green chilly – 1 (finely chopped) Salt – as per taste (3/4 tsp) Green coriander – 1 tbsp (finely chopped) Green peas – 1 tbsp Carrot – 1 (cut into small pieces) Peanut – 1 tbsp (roasted) Firstly roast the sooji. Now roast it on medium flame. Keep stiring constantly as it might get parched. Keep the flame medium to roast it evenly. Roast until sooji becomes little brown in color. Sooji has become brown now turn off the gas. Now add 2 tbsp oil in the pan. Roast the peanuts in heated oil. Roast until peanuts turn little brown. Now take them out. Add black mustard seeds and saute for few seconds. Now add green chilly,carrots and green peas in the pan. You can also add finely chopped cauliflower or capsicum.Add any vegetable as per the availability or as per your choice. Cook the vegetables for few minutes so that they get little tender. Cook vegetables for 2-3 minutes. Vegatables have become tender now add sooji into it. Add three times more water then sooji. For one cup water add three cups of water. Add salt and now let it cook for 3-4 minutes so that it gets puffy. Upma is ready now add roasted peanuts into it and mix well. Add peanuts in the end so that they remain crusty. Stir until all ingredeints get mixed nicely. To give it more pleasing taste add 1 tbsp butter into it. Upma taste awesome after adding butter,even if you don’t add butter it still tastes awesome. Upma is ready now add coriander leaves into it and turn off the gas. Luscious and tempting rawa upma is ready. We have used 1 cup semolina for making rawa upma.
